The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced requirements related to the new Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) feature applicable to all mobile phones and devices on the market.
CNAP requirements are effectiv from August 15, 2019.
The purpose of the requirement is to provide the recipient with the Distinguished Name (eg Personal Name, Company Name) of the sender.
Technical specifications such as ETSI TS 122 081 and ETSI TS 122 096 from 3GPP and ETSI reflect all technical and behavioral requirements for displaying caller names on mobile phones. TRA has approved this feature.
All mobile manufacturers and suppliers in the UAE are required to implement requirements to obtain final approval for the introduction and sale of such devices in the country.
For future Type Approval (TA) programs for mobile phones, local testing will ensure that the requirements are met.
For devices on the market, existing dealers have already announced new requirement, and you need to provide SW update details directly to TRA to ensure that the devices comply with the new requirements.
