All phones, tablets, smart watches, and mobile computers must include the CITC E-label, and phones must comply with the technical requirements for mobile devices to enable Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) alert.

In other words,

– Your mobile device must be able to receive all notifications.

– Warning messages must not support features related to message forwarding, copying, or replying.

– The message must support adding a phone number or URL link.

– The device must support displaying or deleting previous warning messages as requested by the user.

– The device must be able to receive synchronized alert messages and have the ability to help those with special needs.

– The device must give priority to cell broadcast alert messages.

– The message must support both Arabic and English.

– Channel distribution must be in accordance with the CMAS.

In addition, all network-based equipment (including mobile phones, tablets, smart watches and mobile computers) must support 4G as equipment approval and customs clearance requirements.

Also, according to CITC, tracking devices and machine-to-machine communication (M2M) must support 4G technology. However, 4G technical support requirements for tracking devices and M2M will be implemented on January 1, 2020.

The Commission reminds that devices of the types mentioned above must meet these requirements before they can be sold or approved.
