IFETEL decided from February 10, 2020 that all devices with cellular bands should be tested, whether or not they were portable.
All devices operating at cellular frequencies (700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 MHz / 2100 MHz, and 2500 MHz) must be locally tested to obtain a PEC certificate for IFETEL deterministic approval.
In addition to the samples provided for cellular testing, manufactures must provide a list of International Mobile Equipment Identitiy (IMEI) and the user manual should include instructions on how to find the IMEI number on the device.
IFETEL records a database of all IMEI numberes linked to specific models of cellular phones or tablets with cellular capability to track all IMEI numbers used in Mexico.
In addition, if you allow your phone to use FM radio, manufacturers must unlock this feature so that end users can access FM sound broadcast services for free.
