Mauritius’ ICTA has issued guidance that short-range devices for transportation and telematics such as automotive sensors and keyless entry systems are exempt from type approval.

ICTA has classified ICT equipment into seven categories (List A-G). Short-range devices fall under category C, so they are subject to DoCs issued by local licensed dealers in order to obtain an import license. In the first stage, the local importer must register with ICTA as a local authorized dealer, and this DoC is important for obtaining an import license.

According to the authorities, certificates previously acquired in Mauritius can no longer be used for import into Mauritius because local authorized dealers must apply for customs clearance for all shipments individually.
