In India, Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules, 2017 apply to the testing and certification procedures for telecommunication equipment, and all telecommunication equipment must undergo mandatory testing and certification procedures before being sold, imported or used in India.

TEC certificates can only be issued based on test results issued by Indian Accredited Labs.

TEC recently announced Phase-2 of the required testing and certification system for telecommunication equipment, which includes:

– Transmission terminal equipment (SDH Equipment, Multiplexing Equipment)

– PON family of Broadband Equipment (PON ONT, PON ONU, and PON OLT)

– Feedback Devices

From June 25, 2020, the MTCTE procedure for the above devices can be applied, and in India, the certificate for the above devices will be mandatory from October 1, 2020.
