On January 20, 2020, the Government of Georgia adopted Decree No.47 on the approval of technical regulations on toy safety.

The market supervisory authority pays attention to the following:

– Unique identification number for the toy

– The manufacturer’s name and address

– Trade mark (if any)

– Instruction manual

– Technical documentation

– Test reports

– List of materials

In addition, the market supervisory authority will issue recommendations that will become mandatory starting in 2021.

Currently, there are no relevant laboratories in Georgia that can confirm the mechanical and chemical properties of toys, so results from foreign accredited laboratories are acceptable. However, if safety violations are found in the market, we will take appropriate action until the product is recovered from the market.

Used toys must have a certificate of conformity, laboratory test results and other necessary documentation showing compliance with safety requirements.

There is a one-year period to prepare regulations, so sanctions do not apply until 2021. The agency will only provide companies with recommendations for sanctions.
