Household appliances entering the EAEU must meet the requirements of the techical regulation TR CU 004/2011 on the safety of low-voltage equipment.

This regulation requires low voltage equipment to be designed and manufactured in the following manner during assembly, use, storage, transportation and maintenance.

    – level of protection against direct or indirect effects of electric current

    – absence of an unacceptable risk of high temperatures, arcs or radiation which can cause hazards

    – necessary level of protection from injury, rotating and stationary parts of the low-voltage equipment

    – necessary level of protection from the hazards of non-electrical origin arising from the application low voltage equipment, including those caused by physical, chemical or biological agents

    – required level of insulation and protection

    – required level of mechanical and electrical endurance

    – required level of resistance to external factors, including the nature of the non-mechanical with appropriate climatic conditions of the environment

    – absence of unacceptable risk due to overload of emergency conditions and failures caused by external and internal factors of influence

    – absence of unacceptable risk connecting and (or) installation

In addition, low voltage equipment must be designed and manufactured so that it will not cause a fire in normal and emergency situations, and the user must be provided with the required level of information to ensure the safe use of low voltage equipment.

All companies that sell or distribute low-voltage electrical and electronic equipment to the Eurasian Economic Union countries must undergo conformity assessment to TR CU 004/2011.

The following technical regulations relate to electrical equipment suitable for use at nominal voltages of 50-1000 V alternating current and 75-1500 V direct current, the main list of products to which TR CU 004/2011 applies:

    – household electrical appliances

    – personal electronic data processing machines

    – devices that can be connected to electronic data processing machines

    – electrical tools

    – electronic musical instruments

    – cables

    – automatic and safety switches

    – electrical distribution

    – electrical control units

In addition, the product must be marked with the EAC mark. Distributing the product in the EAEU region without the mark is prohibited and can lead to fines or seizure.

EAC certificates are valid for five years.
