As part of a future approach to the 3.6 GHz band consultation process, ACMA has devised severl mitigation strategies for current affected point-to-multipoint (PMP) licensees, including wireless Interent service providers (WISPs).
ACMA is proposing changes to the current spectrum preservation policy for the 5.6 GHz band to migrate the 3.6 GHz PMP license to reflect the need for access to the 5.6 GHz band. Instead, it will make the band available for the first time to meet the deployment needs of new services (this is called regular access).
Authorities are seeking input from stakeholders by July 31, 2020 on proposed changes.
