Egypt NTRA recently updated its type approval process and the list of accredited laboratories.

Egypt has two approval schemes for telecommunications equipment.

– Light type approval scheme

– Tight type approval scheme

The light type approval scheme applies if the manufacturer has certified the laboratory in accordance with ISO17025 with respect to the EMC and safety requirements area, or if the manufacturer’s factory is not in China or India and the manufacturer has received QMS certification according to ISO9001. Otherwise, the Tight type approval scheme is applied.

However, if your accredited lab is in China or India, it should be on the NTRA accredited test lab list.

According to the Light type approval scheme, you do not need to provide test samples for the certificate, only relevant test reports for:

– RF requirements

– EMC requirements

– Safety requirements

– SAR requirements

The test report must take into account the technical requirements of European, international or American standards, and the device and packaging must also include labeling according to CE or FCC labeling requirements, along with importer information.

NTRA reserves the right to require samples from shipment for inspection before commencing customs clearance.

If you need to follow a tight type approval scheme, you must first apply for a conformity check at one of the NTRA accredited test labs and the type approval process will be considered complete once you have passed on-site inspection after the first shipment.
